About
Conference interpreting
Conference interpreters facilitate oral communication among speakers of different languages at international settings.
Professional conference interpreters possess linguistic and interpreting skills; follow international standards of practice; respect ethics and confidentiality.
Interpreting modes are: simultaneous, consecutive, and whispering. Simultaneous interpreting requires a booth (fixed or mobile), and simultaneous translation equipment (headphones, microphones, interpreter console).
Interpreters are hired in teams through a conference interpreter provider such as a consultant interpreter, language service company, or simultaneous interpretation equipment supplier.
